The House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Rep. John Kline (R-MN), held a hearing this week on the Workforce Investment Improvement Act of 2012 (H.R. 4297). The legislation would strengthen job training and employment services for workers and employers. read on

A congressman who was impeached and removed from the federal bench in Florida, and who is now under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, has been exposed by a Beltway watchdog group for yet another transgression — nepotism.

Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-FL) is one of only six federal judges to be removed from the bench following an impeachment trial in which even members the group — the Congressional Black Caucus — condemned his corruption as a jurist when he claimed he was being targeted because he was an African American judge. read on

On January 4, 2011, we were hopeful and excited. We had lead sponsors for the new Parental Rights Amendment (PRA) and anticipated having as many as 160 sponsors in the House soon after its introduction that month.

On January 5, we learned (much to our surprise) that Rep. Fleming of Louisiana had introduced the language as HJR 3. Within 2 days, it already had 17 cosponsors.

Then, just as surprisingly, Rep. Fleming ceased to accept cosponsors. On the surface, the PRA has gone nowhere since. read on

Last week, I voted “no” on the RESTORE Act amendment that came to the Senate floor. While its proponents have sold this as a Gulf Coast restoration bill, the truth is that it goes far beyond that.

When it was introduced last July, I proudly stood with all my Gulf state colleagues as a supporter. The original bill would ensure that at least 80 percent of fine money collected from BP for its oil spill would be dedicated to Gulf Coast restoration efforts. Even back then, I had some reservations about not dedicating 100 percent of the money to the Gulf Coast. After all, this money only existed because of the spill, and the oil spill only impacted the Gulf Coast. read on

During a speech before the American Bar Association’s National Summit on Indigent Defense, Attorney General Eric Holder told the audience of attorneys that the U.S. Department of Justice will work to improve legal representation for individuals deemed too poor to hire an attorney to represent them in criminal cases.

Holder pointed out that nearly a half-century ago the U.S. Supreme Court’s Gideon v. Wainwright ruling stipulated that the United States Constitution requires defendants in criminal cases to be provided with legal counsel, even if they cannot afford an attorney. read on

Rubio: “The first is that it’s important to remember that the President has been president for three years. Two of those three years, his party, the Democratic party controlled the House and the Senate. He could have had anything he wanted and he got it. He got ObamaCare. He got the stimulus package. He got the Wall Street regulations. And where are we today? We are worse off today than we were in January of 2009.” read on

When the President takes the podium Tuesday night to deliver a State of the Union speech to the nation, I hope to hear a commitment to actions that will create an environment for economic activity and job creation, including: low taxes and tax certainty, regulatory relief, new export markets, affordable energy and reduced government spending.

I heard directly from Iowans on these issues, and more, during meetings this month in 36 counties. Those who came to the meetings also had questions and comments about the President’s controversial recess appointments, accountability for the government’s Fast and Furious program, the need for domestic energy development, a new national defense strategy, the Federal Reserve, and Social Security. read on

In its strategic plan for Africa for the years 2010-215, the International Planned Parenthood Federation has set an organizational goal of increasing its “abortion services” in that part of the world by 82 percent.

The number is in Figure 2, the “performance framework” of the plan (page 7), under “performance milestones/benchmarks” and notes its expectation of an “82 percent increase in abortion services: 212,021 services by 2013, and 273,656 by 2015.” read on

President Obama understands his Communist agenda is being rejected by the country.  Do not pay attention to  his 48 percent approval rating.   He is probably riding at about 28 percent. My opinion.   The middle class is being decimated by this miscreant socialist with taxes on medicare, sun beds, gas, food, energy, cell phones etc. He is trying to collapse this economy.

The wealth creators are redirecting their resources and are not expanding their businesses or hiring new people. They are waiting for all these unconstitutional regulations and laws to be repealed by the Congress, the next president and or new conservative senate. read on
