No More Secrets
Secret, defined as an adjective, can be described as designed or working to escape notice, knowledge, or observation. This is what I think of when I hear our elected representatives explain the need for tax increases. They always say that a reduction in tax cuts is a cut to the Federal budget but a tax increase is only on the wealthiest of Americans.
The verbal sleight-of-hand in the above statement is what is designed to escape notice—a secret. Did you know that every time the Federal government increases payroll taxes that it immediately gives a budget cut to your local government? Think of it this way. If your local community has a sales tax of 7 percent and the citizens are spending $1million a week on products, then it should have sales tax revenue of $70,000 each week. But when your representatives in Congress increase payroll taxes, it will reduce what you are able to spend with your local small-business owner. If, for example, those representatives increased payroll taxes by 10 percent across the board, this means that now only $900,000 a week is spent and sales tax revenue drops to $63,000. This economic concept is the secret that your representatives have no desire to discuss with you.
Imagine a small-business owner willingly promoting a representative for office when that representative just reduced his or her customer’s ability to shop at their establishment—this is illogical.
Taxes, not an economic downturn, are pushing the middle class toward poverty. You will pay 7.65 percent to Social Security (if you’re not self-employed) and then an average of 15 percent to federal taxes for a grand total of 22.65 percent for every dollar that you earn. The state will ask you for a national average of 5.5 percent. You then have the privilege of paying your state and local representatives your sales tax rate, which is 7 percent on a national average. Then you sprinkle on a little property tax with some city and county fee taxes, and you are on the way to giving 40 cents of every dollar you earn to one representative or another.
The CBO anticipates that the government will generate more than $36 trillion in revenue from 2011-2020 by taxing you, the American citizen. This is $3.2 million from every U.S. taxpayer and represents a lot of lost revenue for small-business owners and local governments. Small business-owners generated 65 percent of all net new jobs from 1993 to 2008. This is expected to decrease due to this overtaxation from your elected representative.
The CBO had this to say about the more than 45 pages of expiring tax provisions which start in January of 2011: “The effects of expiring tax provisions account for about two-thirds of the projected increase in revenues relative to GDP over the next two years.”
Notice that the CBO didn’t say an increase in our country’s economic output will be the primary cause of the revenue increase to the federal government. It is an increase in taxes not higher job growth. These tax provisions that your representatives are allowing to expire will reduce your local government’s budget starting Jan 1, 2011, and more importantly, it will reduce your budget on that same day.
Starting this month and into October you will notice higher health insurance premiums as the health industry is hit with complying with the new ObamaCare policies. You should view this increased premium as a tax, since it was a law passed by your elected representative that is causing this increase.
In 2009, the net interest payment on our debt was $189 billion. As a result of the actions by your representative, it will grow to an estimated $1 trillion by the year 2020. This is unsustainable economic policy. For every new dollar that we spend in interest, we will have to borrow a second dollar to maintain current levels of spending. This is like a cat chasing its tail!
Did you know that the current Congress and president is about to have more in deficit spending in their first five years in office than our nation has had since we declared independence from Great Britain?

The only way out of this mess is to make our representatives listen to us. I think this book will help all of us understand the problem and the “right” that we have to resolve this problem.
This book clearly brings to light negative impact of increased taxes. This information clearly appeals to ones logic if you genuinely want to understand and have answers. I encourage people to purchase the Liberty Pack and share a book with others! Then exhort them to do the same. Together we can make a difference.
